Sir,
With reference to your telegram of the 14th. of
February and your despatch No.43 of the 16th. of the saze
month, I have the honour to transmit to you as requested the
enclosed list of the Chinese employés of this Government
Whose salaries have beer increased in accordance with the scheme submitted in Major-General Black's despatch No.#7) of the ##nd, or September, 1898.
B.
Post Office employes whose salaries had already been increased under authority of your despatch No.139 of the 20th. of July last, have been excepted from the scheme of increase as directed. But some other employes in that Departm ment had their salaries readjusted independently of your despatch referred to. Then the increases already granted in these latter cases were greater than would have been earned under the new scheme they have been allowed to stand, and where they were less they have been increased up to what they would
have reached under the scheme.
B. The Assistant Teachers at the Wantsai, and “aiyingpun Schools, and the teacher at Wongneichung School in the Depart- nt of the Inspector of Bchools, have been excepted from the scheme
received increases of salary last year.
